P.Kapsis on the hiring process for Public Television (DT) and the New Public Broadcaster (NERIT)
Deputy Minister for the public broadcaster, Pandelis Kapsis, during his interview to private TV channel “Mega”, announced that hiring at the New Public Broadcaster – NERIT - will be done with a point-system, offering priority to ERT employees. He underlined that the official invitation for application for NERIT will be released within the month of August. The transition broadcaster’s lifetime is not anticipated to surpass three or four months.
ERT journalist, Mache Nikolara, pointed out that ERT employees do not recognize any intermediate broadcasting entity, given that there is no working or professional security offered to those who will be hired. She also underlined that it has not been clarified so far if after their two-month contracts the employees will be able to get social benefits or if there might be a renewal of the contracts. Mr. Kapsis answered that the government has already been committed to take all essential legal actions (contract renewal etc), if need be.
