500% increase in hospital dispensaries

After their consultation with Troika, representatives of the ministry of Health decided to raise the price of the ticket for the hospital dispensaries from 5 to 25 euros during 2014.
Both sides also decided to augment the use of generic drugs about 60% and pharmaceutical spending to 2 billion euros for 2014.

Athens’ University and National Technical University suspend operations

With the decision of their senates, Athens’ University and the National Technical University proceed to a full suspension of their academic operation. They declare their antithesis to the measure of suspension of administrative officials of Universities and Technological Εducational Ιnstitutes. The rectors claim that the county’s universities will no longer be able to operate academically and will undergo an irreparable damage in case the measure of suspension is implemented.

Big protest against suspension

Within the framework of the 48hour strike declared by ADEDI, the Supreme Administration of Public Officials, a big rally took place this morning. The unions of public and private sector declared their antithesis to the government and troika’s policies, which disdain the public sector through layoffs and suspension.
During the rally, Mr Grigoris Kalomiris, the vice-president of ADEDI, presaged the escalation of mobilisations in order to annul the measures.
Press unions also declared a 3hour work stoppage for all private and public media.

Turmoil in police due to Golden Dawn

After the publications and accusations about the entanglement of policemen with the Golden Dawn, the government proceeded to displacements and replacements of officers of the Greek Police.
The resignations of general inspectors of police in Mainland and South Greece were accepted. Among them was the head of the squad of the Unit for the Reinstatement of Order, members of which threw rocks during the episodes last Tuesday without being hampered or arrested.
