The 14 arrested after the sit in at the Rectorateof the University of Athens, will be brought to court on Monday.



A new round of negotiations began for the Brussels Group in Paris, in order to estimate the progress of the negotiations between Greece and its creditors, in view of the Eurogroup meeting on the 24th of April.



The necessity to terminate the financial policy of severe austerity in Greece  was underlined once again by  Nobel laureate Paul Krugman, in a press conference in Athens today. Before the conference Paul Krugman had had meetings with the Greek Prime Minister and the President of the Republic.



An earthquake of 4.2 degrees of the Richter Scale after 4.30 p.m. took place in northern Ilea, Peloponnesus  today, followed by another earthquake of 3.8 degrees at the southeast of Crete.



The fire that broke out during the early hours in the yard of the mosque of Mahmud Agas in Komotini, was due to a short-circuit according to the first information available, said representative of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Koutras, in response to the announcement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

In a new poll for newspaper “Proto Thema” by company METRISI, Syriza leads by 10.4 units in intention of vote. 57.3% of those questioned considers it possible that the country will default in the near future, while 14.6% believe that in the next 12 months the situation in the country will be slightly better. 44.2% of those questioned approves of the governmental handling of negotiations with the country’s partners, while 62.3% does not wish a more hard line if that could lead to an exit from the euro. Asked about the policy of the government towards immigrants, only 28% agrees while 51.8% approves of the policy of the government on the occupations of public buildings.



The application process for those entitled to benefits according to the law addressing the humanitarian crisis begins on Monday.

In Poland, around 30.000 people according to police, took to the streets of Warsaw, asking for pay rises and protesting against redundancies.



In Afghanistan, responsibility was claimed on behalf of the Islamic State for the suicide bomb blast  outside a bank in the  city of Jalalabad, which killed 33 people and injured more than 100.





WEATHER

Local showers and sporadic storms, initially in the northeast of the country, later in central and continental Greece, according  the National Meteorological Service. Temperatures will reach 23 degrees Celsius in Attica and 19 degrees in Thessalonica.
