DIMAR: Samara’s speech today was inflammatory

The handling of the ERT “restructuring”, as was unilaterally chosen by the Prime Minister and the Nea Dimokratia party, is unacceptable, DIMAR stresses out in its announcement, characterising the Prime Minister’s speech today as inflammatory. Mr. Samaras must realise that the government is made up of three parties. If in act and word –like in Mr. Samara’s inflammatory speech today- the government partners are shoved aside, then the consistency of the government is threatened, as is noted in the announcement.

DIMAR announcement

We have made it clear since the first moment that we are considering this as a democracy issue and that we are opposed to the solution chosen, which is not a reform but an insult to the meaning of this word, since it connects it with authoritarianism. The only solution is the withdrawal of the Legislative Act, the immediate re-functioning of ERT with a normal programme and the promotion, with ERT being open, of the necessary restructuring, rationalisation and institutional reform.

The issue of the frictions has to do not only with the issue of ERT, but also with comprehensive, broader problems, which have been highlighted as matters of different opinions, but also contrasts that have to be dealt with. Mr. Samaras must realise that the government is made up of three parties. If in act and word –like in Mr. Samara’s inflammatory speech today- the government partners are shoved aside, then the consistency of the government is threatened.

No-one has the right, in a critical period, when the country and citizens are making huge efforts to exit from the crisis, to promote party plannings. The country does not need elections. Whoever tries to lead it to early elections will be the one totally responsible for this choice.
