The “tsunami” of suspensions is sweeping
With protest rallies, strikes for hours and days, the public sector employees are responding to the suspensions plan. A 24-hour strike throughout Attica and a new rally at 10.30 in the morning on Klafthmonos Square have been proclaimed today by ADEDY (Supreme Administration of Public Employees’ Unions). The lists with the number of employees that will be suspended from every ministry are already in the hands of the Ministry of Administrative Reform leaders. Among them, doctors of the IKA (Social Security Foundation), but also the cleaning ladies at the Ministry of Finance. The tsunami of suspensions will put another 8,920 employees out of work.
1,618 suspended from the Ministry of Health
According to information, 1,618 will be suspended from the Ministry of Health. Contrary to what Adonis Georgiadis was stating, among them will also be 280 IKA hospital doctors.
In an announcement, the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospitals Employees (POEDIN) denounces the crocodile tears of the “communicative” Minister, who sets public hospitals on fire and then dances crying on their ashes.
It also notes that the willing towards the troika Minister of Health is presenting the suspensions and lay-offs of health workers, as obligatory position moving that are ostensibly a blessing for hospitals.
2,122 Technical and Professional Education teachers suspended from the Ministry of Education.
In the Education sector, the Ministry of Education gave yesterday the list with the 2,122 technical and professional education teachers that are suspended, among them the president of OLME (Federation of Middle Education Workers), Themis Kotsifakis.
In September, it will suspend 1,500 more employees. They are mainly the administrative personnel of universities and technical colleges, thus ignoring their administrative indipendence.
600 employees suspended from the Ministry of Employment.
From the Ministry of Employment, 600 employees will be suspended, mainly from the social security funds and the monitored organisations. Shocked, the employees who were expecting, especially in the social security sector, the personnel to grow in number, have had a protest rally outside the Ministry of Employment.
In its announcement, the Panhellenic Federation of Social Policy Organisations Personnel is noting: “The social security funds are considered unnecessary organisations for the political leaders and must be lead to their full devaluation, up to their permanent dismantlement. This is the only way anyone can face the fact that the 600 will be mainly from the Social Security Organisations, at a moment that it has 2,500 vacant places registered.
400 cleaning ladies suspended from the Ministry of Finance.
In the Ministry of Finance, the weakest links, that is the cleaning ladies, have been chosen to be suspended. Together with the drivers, they will be about 400 people.
