ERT employees denounce plans for a government controlled broadcaster
The ministry of Finance has issued an invitation of application for 589 vacancies for the new transition broadcaster. The employment contracts are to be of two-month duration with no possibility of renewal.
ERT employees describe the invitation of application as “one full of generalizations and grey areas that offend ERT employees”, pointing out that “the state of becoming of the country’s broadcaster reverts to what it was forty years ago” and calling the new broadcaster, “not a public one in any sense, but one completely under government control”.
Panhellenic Federation of Journalists’ Unions (POESY) and Journalists' Union of the Athens Daily Newspapers (ESHEA) call all journalists working both in the public and private sector, to go against the government’s plans leading to its gaining more control over information distribution.
