SUBMISSION OF THE APPLICATIONS FOR THE TRANSITION BROADCASTING COMPANY

The submission of the applications for theemployment at the transition broadcasting company begun yesterday. The process is done via Internet. Initially, five hundred eighty nine employees on all specialties will be hired. The government announced that “when the new program will begin broadcasting from the premises of ERT at Agia Paraskevi, the employment of the rest employees will be completed, summing up to the total of two thousand.” Those interested can submit their applications via Internet at the electronic site of the Ministry of Finance until the second of August. It is said unofficially that the employees that will be hired in the first stage, will be possibly hired at the next stage. Main criteria for the selection of applicants to this transition broadcasting entity will be work experience at ERT, including though the work experience at the television and radio generally.

 

REACTIONS OF ERT’S EMPLOYEES ABOUT THE TRANSITION BROADCASTING COMPANY

The publication of the notice of interest for staff positions for the transition company of the public television yesterday have aroused strong feelings on behalf of ERT’s employees. They point out that the notice of interest “is full of obscurities and it offends the employees.” The announcement points out that the government “sets up a setting of civil war amongst the employees who are in anxiety about their future though they are not easily intimidated”. It is emphasized that the broadcasting reality of the country “is being drawn four decades back”. Commenting on the new broadcast entity that will be created, it is stated that it will no longer be of public character but on the contrary of strictly governmental one.”  The announcement concludes that: “the government’s only purpose was to stop ERT from broadcasting the radio and television programs, the internet information flow and its cultural production that was embracing the whole of Greek society. Additionally, it wanted to take revenge upon the employees of ERT.”
