EBU: Interim Greek Public Television (EDT) not accepted by Public Broadcaster circles

President of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Jean-Paul Philippot met with a delegation of European Federation of Journalists and ERT employees' representatives describing the police invasion of ERT HQ in Aghia Paraskevi as "incomprehensible".

Mr. Philippot made it clear that the interim public television station EDT will never be accepted as member of the EBU and added that Greece will likely not be allowed to participate in the Eurovision song contest without a public broadcasting service.

EBU president listened carefully to the delegation members' concern. He also agreed to be in touch with them in view of the upcoming Public Broadcasters General Assembly in December.
