Journalists’ union reject consultation about NERIT

Mr Themistoklis Fortsakis, president of the Supervisory Board of NERIT, invited the Pan-Hellenic Federation of Journalists’ Union to talk about the organization of the journalists’ team in the new radio-television entity. The Union replied that they will consult only if ERT broadcasts normally again and the workers are in place. The Union stresses that it will support with all its strength the actions of ERT’s workers who are struggling with limited technical means and insist in “keeping it open”, without submitting to blackmail and dilemmas; they insist on broadcasting a TV and radio program, a fact that constitutes an example of professional sufficiency and journalistic ethics. According to the statement, on the 7th of September, the day of mobilization of all social entities in Thessalonica’s International Expo, ET3 channel facilities will become the center of initiatives, so that legitimacy is restored again.

Mr Dimitris Trimis, chairman of the Board of Directors of ESIEA, the Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Newspapers, answering to an invitation of the president of the Supervisory Board of NERIT, emphasized that ERT’s case is still open to Justice, Parliament and the entire society. Mr Trimis expressed that “ it would be naïve to pretend that nothing’ s going on and to exchange ideas about NERIT, the new Greek Radio, Internet and Television while people know what’s going on in Greece of the memorandum. The ministers that appointed you have made a fool of themselves worldwide.”
