Only a few hours remain until the crucial parliamentary elections. Poll centers will open at 7 a.m. and will close at 7p.m.
9.8 million citizens have the right to vote, with the exclusion of 100,000 citizens who are just 18 years old.
Voters can verify the place where they  are going to vote by clicking the webpage of the Ministry of Interior www.ypes.gr in the chapter “Learn where you vote” or by calling 213 1361500.
In order to facilitate the public to vote, Identity card offices in police stations will remain open from 7 a.m. until 7p.m. tomorrow.
The first estimate of the election results is expected around 9.30 p.m on Sunday, according to the president of Singular Logic.


The Press Centre for the general elections has opened at Zappeion.  876 journalists and correspondents from 45 countries have been accredited, amounting to 35 % more than those accredited in 2012. The Press Centre will be operating until the completion of the vote results, for the representatives of Greek and foreign Mass Media as well as for the correspondents covering the elections. The Conference Room  be will available to political party leaders who wish to make announcements for the media, with simultaneous translation in English.


TV crews from private and public channels from southern European countries visited the facilities of POSPERT and ERTOPEN in order to cover this unprecedented 20-month project of  self-management in a public broadcaster.
Our visitors included private SIC Noticias from Lisbon, Portugal, RAI Television from Italy and the Podemos TV crew from Spain, who conveyed a message to all the fighting workers of free ERT that the situation is about to change on Monday for Greece and for Europe and that we should have hope.


One more man lost his life from the influenza virus, rising the number of the deceased in our country to 14. According to the  
Hellenic Center for Disease Control & Prevention
  (KEELPNO), 27 more patients are being hospitalized in Intensive Care Units.


The Pediatric clinic of the Hospital of Aghios Nikolaos in Crete shut down yesterday evening and will remain closed until Monday morning. This will be repeated next weekend; therefore all pediatric cases will have to be transferred to the hospital of Ierapetra. The board of the Union of the Employees of the  Hospital of Aghios Nikolaos, supported by the parents of the patients, after having proceeded to all possible actions  in order to solve the problem, expresses its disappointment for the situation that has arisen and hopes that the result of the forthcoming elections will finally lead to a solution that will deal with the shortage of staff in this regional hospital.


INTERNATIONAL NEWS
The new king of Saudi Arabia, Salman, bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, sent a message of stability in the same course with his first proclamation since he ascended the throne. White House press secretary announced that US president Barack Obama has cancelled a planned trip to the Taj Mahal, cutting short his visit to India to travel to Riyadh on Tuesday, January 27th, in order to pay respects to King Salman.


The European Union called upon Russia to stop providing any kind of support to the pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine. The head of European diplomacy also called for the immediate withdrawal of heavy weapons and adherence to the agreements that were signed in Minsk in September of 2014, aiming at the peaceful settlement of the crisis.
More than 5,000 people have died in fighting in the east since April while more than a million people have been displaced.


WEATHER
Rainy weather and local storms are forecast for Thrace, the Eastern Aegean, the southern Cyclades and Crete with clouds in the rest of the country and showers mainly in western regions.
Temperatures will range from 3 to 13 degrees Celsius in Northern Greece, from 3 to 15 degrees in Central Greece , from 6 to 17 degrees in Southern Greece and from 11 to 17 degrees in the Aegean islands and Crete.
Strong southerly winds in the Aegean, occasional storms towards the north which will gradually subside. Northwest winds, strong to moderate, in the Ionian sea.

Overcast skies with sporadic showers in the early hours with quick improvement are expected  this Sunday in Attica. The temperature in the centre of Athens will reach 15 degrees Celsius

Scattered clouds tomorrow in Thessalonica. Temperatures will reach 13 degrees Celsius.
